Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson says they are still waiting to hear how they can get funding support on County Road 49, but he did see some positive signs when it comes to infrastructure in the new Federal Budget.
“Like everyone else we are still trying to fully digest the budget, but I recognize and applaud the feds for establishing a 51 billion dollar infrastructure investment fund (the Build Community Strong Fund) and I am very hopeful that we can access some of those funds for housing and infrastructure like roads,” said Ferguson.
“I also commend them for launching the new Build Canada Homes Agency to help build more homes at scale. Many smaller municipalities help deliver housing and we are ready to get to work building and repairing more housing. We have great partners in the community and in the region with the Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus and we want to move things forward.”
As for County Road 49, Ferguson says the County needs $24 million from the Federal Government to move that project forward. He said they are getting tons of public input from both citizens and local organizations, and they are still waiting to see how they can get the federal government on board given the tight timelines they face.
