The Wellington Dukes have strung together two wins in a row after going more than a month without a victory.
Ethan Murray notched a three-point game and Colby Booth-Housego made 31 saves in the Dukes 5-3 victory over the Aurora Tigers on Saturday.
Wellington scratched across five-unanswered tallies after spotting their hosts a 2-0 lead through markers from Tommy Nitsopoulos and Martin Maryanovsky.
Liam Campbell continued his strong play with his third goal in two games to cut into the Tigers lead, then Evan Erwin buried the tying goal in front on a powerplay to tie the score after 20 minutes.
Wellington dominated in shots, possession and goals in the second period, outshooting Aurora 19-5 and scoring three times.
Zach Mascard, Vince Albanese and Murray all slipped home markers in about a six-and-a-half-minute span to break away and chase Aurora goalie Matt Humphries from the net.
Aurora did get one back close to the end of the frame on a seeing eye shot from Luke Howard, but that’s about as close as they would get.
Wellington committed to lockdown defence in the third and completely smothered any chance for the Tigers to claw back.
Sacha Trudel picked up two assists, with one helper each being registered by Kyle Grasby, Landon Marleau, Campbell, Albanese, and Will Mitchell.
The Dukes outshot Aurora 50-34 to move back to .500 at 9-9-2-4 and will finish out their three-in-three weekend with a home game against the rival Cobourg Cougars at 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
