Belleville man charged in connection with theft from city store

Belleville Police have arrested a man in conneection with a theft case at a store in the city.

On November 13th at 9:49am, Belleville Police responded to a report of theft from a business on Sidney St.

Upon arrival, staff reported that a male had entered the store, began yelling at employees, and then stole merchandise before leaving on foot.

Officers reviewed video footage and were able to identify a suspect.

A short time later, police located the male in the downtown area and, after a brief foot pursuit, placed him under arrest.

As a result, Christopher Town, 32-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:

· Robbery with theft

· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

· Resist peace officer

He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
