QW OPP: Be mindful of crosswalk rules

By Brock Ormond Nov 18, 2025 | 4:27 PM

Quinte West OPP would like to remind drivers and cyclists of the crosswalk rules.

Since the start of the 2025 school year, Quinte West OPP have responded to numerous complaints of drivers not yielding to pedestrians and crossing guards in designated crossing areas.

When you come upon a school crosswalk, you’re asked to stop and yield to pedestrians, wait until pedestrians have completely crossed the roadway and are safely on the sidewalk at crossovers and at crosswalks controlled by a crossing guard and always look for pedestrians, especially when turning, and watch for children in school and residential zones.
