As police agencies in the Quinte and Northumberland regions were busy tackling drug busts over the last couple of days, Kingston Police was doing the same early Thursday morning.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bath Road and Armstrong Road in relation to a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Upon approaching the vehicle officers identified a violation being committed by one of the occupants under the Cannabis Control Act.

A subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants lead to the discovery of approximately 340 Hydromorphone pills, 30 Adderall pills, 150 grams of fentanyl, 17 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of crack cocaine, five cell phones, two digital scales and $4000 in Canadian currency.

A 29-year-old of the Greater Toronto Area and a 27-year-old of Port Hope were arrested and charged joint with five counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. Additionally, the 29-year-old was charged with possession of proceeds obtained by crime.

Both accused parties were taken to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing and then remanded into custody.
