Prince Edward County Council will begin considering the draft 2026 municipal budget on Monday, Dec 1.
Council will meet at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main St) on Dec 1 starting at 6pm. Arryn McNichol, Treasurer and Director of Finance and IT, will provide an overview of the draft 2026 budget. Council will also receive any deputations from the public and comments from the audience.
On Dec 2, Council will review the capital budget, which is the municipality’s plan for investing in the roads, parks, and recreation facilities, fire and emergency vehicles, and other infrastructure that support the delivery of programs and services.
On Dec 3, Council will discuss the operating budget, which details the programs and services the municipality will deliver in 2026 and the plan to pay for them.
Following Council feedback and input about the draft 2026 budget, Mayor Steve Ferguson intends to officially present the proposed 2026 budget. Adoption of the final budget will follow the process outlined in the provincial Municipal Act under the strong mayor powers and duties.
