Theft, breaches of probation in Belleville on busy Thanksgiving weekend

Breach of Probation

Before 6 p.m. Saturday, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a report of an unwanted person.

It was reported that a male was on the property attempting to contact a female resident, which was in violation of his probation order. The male then began smashing a front door window in an attempt to gain entry.

Upon arrival, officers located the male and arrested him.

A 34-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with

· Fail to comply with probation order X3

· Mischief – Domestic

He was held for a bail hearing.

Theft from Vehicle

Just before 11 a.m. Sunday, Belleville Police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle outside a business on Pinnacle St.

It was reported that while the vehicle owner was inside the business, an unknown person broke into her car and stole several items, including luggage, jewelry, and iPads.

Traffic Enforcement/Breach of Release Order

Around 5:50 p.m. Thanksgiving Monday, Belleville Police observed a motorcycle driving in the city’s west end displaying an unattached plate for an off-road vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the female driver, who initially provided a false name.

She was later identified as a person known to police and found to be breaching her release order, which specified her to remain in her residence at all times unless with her surety.

During the search, officers also seized brass knuckles.

As a result of investigation, a 39-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:

· Carrying a concealed prohibited device

· Obstruct a peace officer

· Failure to comply with release order

She was held for a bail hearing.
