Prince Edward County Council has supported the recommendations of the 2026 meeting schedule presented by the Clerk’s Office.

Regular open Council meetings shall be held Tuesdays bi-weekly, and commence at 7:00 p.m, Closed Council meetings shall be held no earlier than 4:30 p.m. on the day of an existing regular Council meeting, Regular Planning & Development Committee meetings shall be held monthly on the third Wednesday, and commence at 6:00 p.m, Regular Committee of the Whole Meetings shall be held Thursdays bi-weekly, during the same week as the regular scheduled Council meetings, and commence at 1:00 p.m.

Staff also proposed scheduling one Council and Committee of the Whole meeting in July and August 2026 to accommodate summer vacations, and to provide respite for Council and staff.

The 2026 Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. As per Section 6 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, the 2026-2030 Term of Council will begin on November 15, 2026.

In keeping with past practice in election years, Regular Council, Committee of the Whole, and Planning & Development Committee meetings have not been scheduled as they typically are for the months of September, October and November. The final meeting of the 2022-2026 term of Council has been proposed for November 10, 2026. The Inaugural Meeting for the 2026-2030 Term of Council is scheduled for December 1, 2026, in accordance with section 4.4 of the County’s Procedural By-Law.

The Clerk’s Office will share the meeting schedules with Members of Council, staff and the public, by way of the County’s website.
