Break-in at Belleville business results in charges

A break-and-enter at a north end Belleville business has resulted in a city man being charged.

Late Friday night, staff at the business reported finding a bicycle and personal belongings of an unknown person at the rear of the store and also reported hearing footsteps above the store.

After arriving on scene, Belleville Police officers accessed the roof and located a male actively damaging a rooftop HVAC unit.

The man attempted to flee the scene, but was caught and charged.

37-year-old Nathan Irwin of no fixed address faces a list of charges, including;

· Possession of break in instruments

· Obstruct a peace officer

· Mischief over $5,000

· Break and Enter

· Fail to comply with probation order X2

· Fail to comply with a release order X2

· Fail to comply with an undertaking

He was held for a bail hearing.
