Separate domestic incidents reported in Belleville

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 25, 2025 | 8:48 AM

Belleville Police has dealt with two separate instances of reported intimate partner violence in the last number of hours.

Before 7:30 Wednesday night, a domestic dispute was reported in the city’s east end and officers were told a verbal argument had escalated.

The incident reportedly involved a male assaulting a female by hitting and choking her and the victim being pushed into a door while holding their child, causing both to strike their heads.

As a result of investigation, a 30-year-old Yarker man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

In a separate incident just after midnight, again in the east end, a verbal argument led to a male reportedly grabbing a female by the neck and slapping her.

As a result of investigation, a 25-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with assault.

Both accused will have court dates scheduled for November.
