No cause for concern in approved agricultural burn in Belleville

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 22, 2025 | 10:40 AM

Belleville’s deputy fire chief is letting the community know there are no safety concerns associated with an approved agricultural burn east of Highway 37.

Mark Shannon told Inquinte.ca on Monday the burn is occurring in the area between Casey Road and Blessington Road and involves a farmer clearing fence lines and tiling fields for farming operations.

The burn has been approved and checked by Belleville Fire, but Shannon says people have been seeing the smoke and calling 9-1-1.

He says there is no need for residents to be alarmed.
