Mayor Brian Ostrander excited about the arrival of Applefest Weekend in Brighton

By Hailey MacDonald Sep 24, 2025 | 3:01 PM

Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander says he is very excited to welcome everyone to the community for their premier event.

Applefest begins on Thursday with an ecumenical service at the Owen Gibb Community Hall (inside the King Edward Park Community Centre on Elizabeth Street) at 7 pm.

There will then be three full days of activities from Friday to Sunday with the official opening ceremony on Saturday at 11 am at Memorial Park, with (weather permitting) a fly-past by an aircrew from CFB Trenton.

The weekend’s events include the Brighton Kinsmen Pancake Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning on Main Street from 8 to 11 am, special events at Brighton Speedway on Friday (Apple’s Eve) and Saturday (Applefest Shootout), Music in the Park and the Applefest Street Fair on Saturday and helicopter rides on the weekend.

Ostrander says the event is not only free and family-friendly, but an amazing showcase for the entire community.

He says he has heard many times from people that they came to Brighton to see Applefest and then came back the very next month to buy a house.

Ostrander says “Applefest showcases the friendliness of the folks who live here, it showcases the want to be in Brighton (for those who leave to find work elsewhere), and we look forward to welcoming everyone.”

He says the weekend also serves as a kind of “Homecoming” event for those who have left and want to reconnect.
