Trenton resident wins first Early Bird prize in latest Car4Cancer Lotto

By Brock Ormond Aug 14, 2025 | 1:33 PM

A Trenton resident has been selected as a $2,500 Early Bird winner in the Belleville General Hospital Foundation Car4Cancer Lotto.

Jocelynn Hansen (Ticket #99019232008) won the first Early Bird prize less than 24 hours after she found herself using Quinte Health services—admitted to Trenton Memorial Hospital with a concussion after being struck by a baseball.

“I’m due some good luck after what happened,” she laughed, still recovering but delighted by the news.

Jocelynn, who was born at Belleville General Hospital and gave birth to her own daughter there, knows firsthand the importance of having strong regional healthcare.

“Belleville General is the regional hospital for our area. They deliver over 1,400 babies each year and provide so many specialized services,” she said. This was her first time playing the Car4Cancer Lotto, inspired after seeing the stunning Ford Mustang GT Convertible—the grand prize for this year’s draw—parked at Lange & Fetter, where she has purchased her vehicles for years.

So far, this latest Car4Cancer Lotto has raised over $185,000 in less than four weeks, on course to deliver another record breaking Lotto campaign.

With 47 days left until the grand prize draw, Hansen is still in the running for two more $2,500 Early Bird prizes, the $87,000 Mustang GT Convertible, and the 50/50 jackpot, which has already surpassed $20,000 and continues to grow.

Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF, congratulated Jocelynn on her win.

“Stories like Jocelynn’s remind us how connected our community is to Belleville General Hospital. Over 60-per dent of our patients come from outside Belleville, and these lotteries directly help us provide regional programs like nuclear medicine and advanced diagnostics that save lives every day.”

Wayne Sheppard, Chair of the BGHF Board, emphasized the goal is to raise $1 million from the lottery program. That money will go directly toward critical medical equipment that benefits patients across the Quinte Health region.
