The City of Quinte West is moving forward with plans to slow traffic along Highway 2.
At Wednesday’s council meeting, members reviewed a proposal to install solar-powered speed display signs and designate a community safety zone on Old Highway 2, between RCAF Road and Quinte View Drive.
The resolution read as follows:
That Council receive Staff Report 25-007 PWES by Chris Angelo, Interim Chief Administrative Officer regarding “Old Highway 2 Traffic Calming Measures Proposal” for information; and
That Council approve the installation of solar speed signs along Old Highway 2 between RCAF Road and Quinte View Drive; and
That Council approve the designation of a Community Safety Zone between RCAF Road and Quinte View Drive; and
In addition, a MADD memorial sign will be placed along that section of road in honour of the two young women killed in a collision by an impaired driver in said area.
Following a short discussion, council voted to approve the motion.
