Prince Edward County Council approves Traffic Calming Policy

By Hailey MacDonald Aug 26, 2025 | 10:57 AM

Prince Edward County Council has approved a Traffic Calming Policy at their regular Council meeting held at Shire Hall on Aug 26, 2025.

The Corporation of the County of Prince Edward recognizes that Traffic Calming measures can improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, and reduce the negative impacts of motor vehicle traffic, particularly speeding, on local streets.

As part of a 2024 initiative, the Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) undertook to develop a process for evaluating public requests for traffic calming measures and conducting traffic speed reviews to streamline the process for the Committee, staff, and community members of Prince Edward County.

There is no financial impact related to the recommendations, beyond the costs of implementing future traffic calming measures which will be addressed through the annual capital and operating budget processes.

All requests for Traffic Calming shall be submitted to the Clerk’s Office or through an online application form.

The new Traffic Calming Policy will be posted on the municipal website and made available to residents upon receipt of traffic calming requests. New requests will be reviewed against the policy.
