A joint effort between the Northumberland OPP and the York Regional Police led to the successful recovery of two stolen vehicles early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., OPP officers responded to a request for assistance in stopping two vehicles believed to be stolen and travelling eastbound on Highway 401 near Bowmanville.

One vehicle was stopped by OPP in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, and the driver was taken into custody.

The second vehicle continued eastbound and was later stopped in Quinte West.

YRP took custody of both drivers, and both stolen vehicles have been recovered.

If you have any information regarding a criminal offence please contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
