An investigation into drug activity in Cobourg and two subsequent arrests saw a big assist from Belleville personnel.
Members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau were joined by the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit, Belleville Police K9, CPS uniform officers, and Special Constables in the execution of a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant at a residence near Division Street and Swayne Street on Wednesday.
Upon entering the residence, police located drugs and weapons that were plainly visible and readily accessible to two children who were found inside the home.
A quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), stolen property, and weapons were seized.
Two Cobourg residents, a 36-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, were arrested and face a list of charges;
1. Possession of a schedule 1 substance-fentanyl
2. Possession of a schedule 1 substance-cocaine
3. Possession of a schedule 3 substance- psilocybin
4. Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
5. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
6. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
7. Fail to provide necessaries of life
The male also faces three additional charges of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing later on Wednesday.
The names of the accused are being withheld to protect the identities of the children.
