Belleville woman faces arson charge following grass fire

Belleville Police have charged a city woman with arson following a grass fire late last week.

Friday night at 8:55pm, Belleville Police responded to a call in the city’s west end to assist the Belleville Fire Department, who were battling a grass fire.

Upon arrival, the grass fire was out. Officers were told that a female had started the fire with a lighter.

As a result of the investigation, Jessica Cruse of Belleville (age 27) was charged with:

· Arson

· Failure to comply with probation order X2

· Failure to comply with undertaking

She was held for a bail hearing.
