2 boys charged after grocery store break-in, theft in Belleville

By Hailey MacDonald Aug 19, 2025 | 11:47 AM

Belleville Police have charged two young people, including a 12-year-old boy, in connection with a break and enter at a grocery store on Tuesday morning.

Officers were called to the business on North Front Street at 3:30 a.m. after the suspects allegedly threw a cinderblock through the front window to gain entry.

While reviewing video footage of the break-in, officers received timely assistance from a witness who directed them toward two suspects matching the description.

The pair were located and arrested a short distance away.

A 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy, both of Belleville, were arrested and charged with break and enter, mischief and theft under $5,000.

The pair are due to be released to their guardians later Tuesday morning on conditions, including a curfew and not to communicate with each other.

They are scheduled to appear in Belleville youth court in October to face the charges.
