A winter weather travel advisory is now in effect for most of the Quinte Region and surrounding area.
Environment Canada updated its weather alert on Monday morning to include Belleville, Quinte West, Northumberland County, Consecon and Napanee. The advisory was already in effect for Stirling, Tweed, Madoc, Tamworth, Odessa and Kingston.
Environment Canada said those areas can expect 5 to 10 cm of snow on Monday afternoon and will continue through the evening.
“There is a risk of freezing drizzle this morning before the snow begins,” the weather alert stated. “There will be reduced visibility in heavy snow.”
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
