A local man is driving into the New Year in style.
James Gordon won a brand-new 2024 GMC Terrain valued at $44,000 in the Belleville General Hospital’s Car4Cancer Lotto on New Year’s Eve.
“Car4Cancer is not just a lottery; it’s an opportunity to support our community and fund essential cancer care services,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF. “With 1 in 2 Canadians expected to face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, providing high-quality oncology services in Belleville is crucial. The funds raised through Car4Cancer are making a real difference, ensuring our local hospital has the necessary resources to continue the fight against this devastating disease.”
Over 5,800 tickets were sold in the draw, raising more than $120,000 for regional oncology care programs at Belleville General Hospital.
Cook said the BGHF is immensely grateful for the continued backing of Peter Smith GM, who have been avid supporters of this initiative from the start.
“We are most appreciative of the continuing contribution by Peter Smith GM” said BGHF Board Chair Wayne Sheppard. “They are continuing in the legacy initiated by the late Peter Smith, it is wonderful for the community. Providing funds for much needed equipment at Belleville General Hospital.”
Meanwhile, a brand-new super draw will launch this month and provide another opportunity to support local cancer care initiatives.
Since its inception 2.5 years ago, the super draw has raised nearly $1.5 million for the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic.
