Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp has released a statement to our newsroom on the shooting at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in east-end Belleville on Sunday night.
STATEMENT FROM MPP TYLER ALLSOPP – I am heartbroken to hear of the shooting last night at Sons of Jacob Synagogue. I have attended the synagogue on several occasions and grew up in the neighbourhood and this senseless act of violence is unimaginable. My thoughts go out to all members of our Jewish community, and to the police officer who was wounded and his family. There is no question that he is a hero and that because of his actions many lives have been saved. This attack was a disgusting act and have no place in our society. It is my sincerest hope that the individual responsible feels the full weight of justice.
