McDougall Insurance announces acquisition of Alberta company

By Brock Ormond Apr 1, 2026 | 1:30 PM

Drayden Insurance Ltd., a division of McDougall Insurance Brokers Limited, today announced the acquisition of Tannas Insurance Brokers Inc. in St. Paul, Alberta. Tannas is iconic in the community of St. Paul, known for supporting and assisting its clients with all their insurance needs for almost 75 years.

It’s family and community orientation makes it a perfect match for the Drayden and McDougall group.

“Tannas already feels like part of the family” said Catherine Cake, President of Drayden. “They focus on the people – just like we do. And we couldn’t be happier to now support their clients and their team with our scale and resources – without compromising what makes Tannas so special.”

“Drayden and Tannas are an ideal fit, which is the single most important element of any deal we do,” said Lorne McDougall, VP of McDougall Insurance. “Brokers like Tannas, who care deeply about their homes, their community, their people and their staff, are exactly what we look for when identifying M&A partners.

“We are thrilled to be able to augment the excellence of the Tannas team with our size and expertise.”

As part of the transaction, the President of Tannas, Trevor Duchesneau, will retire from the organization after a transitionary period. “I knew if I pursued a deal, it would have to be with a partner who is unquestionably committed to our home and our people.” said Duchesneau.

“I know that partnering with Drayden and McDougall ensures that what makes our business so special will endure. I am very proud of what our team has accomplished, and excited for what I know the future will bring.”

Drayden and McDougall are committed to supporting Tannas in maintaining the high standards of professionalism and customer service that Tannas’ clients have come to expect.
