Flag raised to raise organ donor awareness

By Brock Ormond Apr 1, 2026 | 2:13 PM
The efforts to raise awareness and encourage local organ donations continues in the Quinte region.
City of Belleville officials joined the Quinte Organ Transplant Support Group to raise the Be A Donor flag in support of Be A Donor Month and Green Shirt Day on Wednesday outside the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Green Shirt Day is on April 7 in honour of Logan Boulet, who lost his life in the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash.
Prior to his death, Boulet had registered to be an organ donor, which saved the lives of six people.
His story inspired nearly 150,000 Canadians to register, a movement now known as the “Logan Boulet Effect”.
One organ donor can save up to 8 lives and enhance as many as 75 more through the gift of tissue.
