Quebec resident charged in connection to vehicle theft in Alnwick/Haldimand

The OPP have recovered a stolen vehicle and charged one individual following a traffic stop on Highway 401.

On March 12, 2026, shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers were on patrol on the eastbound highway in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when the in‑cruiser Automated License Plate Recognition system alerted them to a stolen vehicle.

The passenger vehicle had been reported stolen one week earlier from a location in Quebec.

The vehicle was stopped by officers, and the driver was taken into custody.

Ali Duval, 35, from Blainville, Quebec has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in April.
