A youth was charged after threats were reportedly made on Thursday.

Belleville Police responded to a public elementary school regarding information that a threat to commit violence at the school had been posted on social media.

A 12-year-old female whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

She was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in May.

Police say they believe that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
