Youth charged in threat to Brighton school

The Northumberland OPP has charged one person after investigating a reported threat involving a local secondary school.

On Thursday, shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers received information regarding a potential threat to the safety of the school.

Police confirmed that the individual associated with the threat was not present at the school, and a hold and secure was not required.

Northumberland OPP advised that there was no immediate risk to the safety of students or staff.

After being identified by police, a youth was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
