No risk to public, student safety in reported theft at Brighton school

There is no immediate risk to public or student safety after a reported threat involving a Brighton high school on Thursday.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers received information regarding a potential threat to the safety of the school.

Police have confirmed that the individual associated with the report was not present at the school, and a hold and secure was not required.

The person involved has been identified, and the OPP Crime Unit has been engaged to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Police say no additional information can be released at this time, but updates will be provided once new information is obtained.
