TUESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE (3 P.M.): Central Hastings OPP has reported that a section of road has reopened in Madoc following a Monday afternoon collision.

The section of Highway 62 and Highway 7 in Centre Hastings has re-opened to traffic a full day after two paramedics were injured in the crash that shut down the busy intersection around 3 p.m. Monday.

The OPP stated vehicles have been removed and repairs have been completed to the traffic lights.

TUESDAY UPDATE (10:30 AM):

The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a two‑vehicle collision in Madoc that resulted in one driver being taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, shortly after 3:00 p.m., officers and emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving an ambulance and a transport truck at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 in Madoc.

Two paramedics were transported to a local hospital. One was later airlifted to a trauma centre by ORNGE with life‑threatening injuries. The second paramedic is being treated with undetermined injuries.

The two occupants of the transport truck were taken to a local hospital as a precaution (only).

The intersection remains closed while repairs to the traffic lights are underway.

TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE – Highway 7 and 62 intersection is still closed on Tuesday morning. Expect major delays in that area until they clear the scene. They are conducting repairs to a light pole in the area as part of the cleanup. As of 7 am, it was still expected to be closed for several hours.

UPDATE: Multiple injuries were reported in a collision on Monday afternoon in Madoc.

OPP East Region stated Centre Hastings OPP responded to the crash that involved a transport truck and an ambulance shortly after 3 p.m.

Four individuals were taken to hospital by paramedics, one with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries and three others taken as a precaution.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage is asked to contact the OPP at 1‑888‑310‑1122.

A multi-vehicle crash has closed an intersection in Madoc Monday afternoon.

The intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 is closed due to a serious two vehicle collision, OPP Communications East Region officials stated on social media.

OPP say Highway 7 is closed between Bonjour Blvd and Cooper Road, and Highway 62 is closed at Gladstone to Highway 7 in Madoc due to this collision.

The extent of injuries is unknown and at this time there are no further details on the nature of the crash.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
