Cold warning issued in Quinte

Bundle up as we get ready for another icy blast of winter weather which could make it dangerously cold over the weekend in Quinte.

Environment Canada has now issued a Cold Warning (yellow) for the area.

The winds pick up Friday night, with blowing snow a possible issue for drivers out on the road, and bitter wind chill values that are expected to last right through until Monday.

Environment Canada’s projected low for Friday night is minus 19, with windchill values approaching minus 30 and a real risk of frostbite.

The overnight lows are then minus 21 on Saturday and minus 20 on Sunday before things start to warm up slightly on Monday.

Wind chills of minus 30 to minus 35 may return Saturday night into Sunday morning for some locations.

For reference, typical overnight lows for this time of year in Quinte hover around minus 12.
