Near miss with pedestrian leads to dangerous driving charge in Belleville

Belleville Police have laid a dangerous driving charge following a near miss with a pedestrian on Tuesday morning.

On November 18th at 5:48am, Belleville Police received a report of a female driving erratically, nearly striking a pedestrian before fleeing the area.

Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle in the city’s west end and attempted to block it in. The driver reversed in an attempt to flee, striking police vehicles. Officers were able to box the vehicle in. The female exited her vehicle and after a brief foot pursuit, was taken into custody.

As a result, a 32-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with:

Dangerous operation
Flight from peace officer

She was held for a bail hearing.

No name was released.
