The charges stem from a police investigation that focused on break and enters reported in Central Hastings, Prince Edward County, and Lennox and Addington.

Members of the East Region OPP Community Street Crime Unit said they located multiple pieces of stolen property in Prince Edward County on Feb. 7.  As a result of the search police said they located approximately $50,000 in stolen off-road vehicles, a lawnmower, chainsaws, generators and other power tools.  Items recovered included: a 2008 Honda All terrain vehicle (ATV), 2002 Honda Off-road motorcycle, two KTM 2020 off-road motorcycles, 2014 KTM off-road motorcycle, 2010 Yamaha ATV and 2021 Yamaha ATV.

Steven Courneyea is charged with two counts of theft over $5,000, four counts of break and enter to commit an indictable offence, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Courneyea is currently in custody and will be pending a bail hearing in Belleville court at a future date.
