Three people face charges after a bust involving drugs and a weapon in Quinte West on Tuesday.
OPP officers from the Quinte West detachment, along with members of Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Quinte West Crime Unit executed a search warrant.
Among the items seized were cash, a firearm and various drugs with a value of about $50,000.
As a result of this investigation the following individuals have been charged.
Camar FRANCIS, 19 years of age from North York has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code (CC) offences:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioids
· Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon
· Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
· Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
· Two counts of Fail to comply with Probation order
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition order.
FRANCIS is being held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 19, 2023.
Amelia SHEPHARD, 29 years of age from Quinte West has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code (CC) offences:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
· Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon
· Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
