Belleville Police have charged a woman from Bloomfield with theft and fraud after more than $600,000 was taken from a city business.

Back in December, police were contacted by a local business owner after they noticed what appeared to be a series of fraudulent transactions.

The investigation revealed that more than $600,000 had been re-directed to a personal bank account over a four-year period.

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Jennifer Simao of Bloomfield was charged with Fraud Over $5000 and Theft Over $5000.

Simao is a former employee of the business which filed the complaint.

Simao was released on an Undertaking and will appear in court on May 11th.
